Welcoming Those with Special Needs/Disabilities

We believe that every person is made in the image of God and is fearfully and wonderfully designed by God for His purposes and glory.

McGarys.JPGGod created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. (Genesis 1:27)

For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:13-14)

With this Biblical understanding, we rejoice that God has chosen to give our assembly individuals who have special needs. We desire to offer care and support to the entire family of these precious people, whether they be children or adults, and find ways to make sure they are included and made a vital part of our church family.

If you have a child or adult with special needs (medical, physical or learning), please call (864-233-1684) or email the office before your visit, and we can work out accommodations for you based on your needs.

When You Get Here

Handicap AccessVIsual_Bulletin.jpg

There is an elevator located at the south entrance to the church. Once you have parked in the horseshoe parking lot, come in that entrance, and the elevator will be on your right, past the greeters' station.

Visual Bulletin

This is a guide to our worship service that can help calm and prepare someone for what will happen next through visual cues. There are spaces for notes and guides for following both the morning and evening service schedules. The bulletin also includes a map that helps direct parents to our elevator as well as designated quiet rooms.

Sensory Bags

These bags are located at our Greeters' Stations and contain books and items that can stimulate a child's senses and soothe or calm them. They are designed to occupy children profitably during our services. Bags can be returned to the Greeters' Stations after the service.

Onsite Designated Rooms

Quiet Room/Sensory Room (available for all services except for Sunday school)

Church can be noisy and overwhelming for those with special needs, especially if they are sensory sensitive or unable to communicate effectively. A quiet zone gives them a place to calm down or take a break before returning to the class or service. Parents and responsible siblings can accompany their family member with special needs to either of these rooms if they need to take a break or have quiet time. The sensory room has various supplies such as Bible story books, and sensory toys.

Sunshine Class (Sunday, 5:30 PM)

This class meets during our Sunday PM service. The class sings together, has a lesson, and enjoys a hands-on craft. The class is led by various teams, and each team is led by a parent or sibling of one of our special needs adults. This is a highlight of the week for many! 😊

Class Outings

The Sunshine class group periodically meets for an activity day or outing.
